First book of the new year, and I loved it!!!! I have been obsessed with this show for months and can't get enough of it。 I was so excited to hear that they had comic books so I bought all of them that were out。 I saved them for the beginning of the new year and read this one first since it is the start of it all。 The comic book itself isn't the best as some pictures are dark and blurry but the story is still amazing and I loved reading it。 For serious fans who have watched the show endlessly th First book of the new year, and I loved it!!!! Ugh- this is a "graphic" novel of a cartoon series。 There is nothing graphic about it, no artwork, or clever dialog。 This is just screen shots of the cartoon with dialog bubbles -I could do better。 I cant draw ANYTHING and I can do better。 Very disappointed- hopefully the show is better。 Ugh- this is a "graphic" novel of a cartoon series。 There is nothing graphic about it, no artwork, or clever dialog。 This is just screen shots of the cartoon with dialog bubbles -I could do better。 I cant draw ANYTHING and I can do better。 Very disappointed- hopefully the show is better。 。。。more

I am way to obsessed with this series! I just love these two and their friends。Omg! Don't get me started on their weirdly, lovable, love square。 That only consists of two people。 Yeah, you read that right! Lol。Some pictures were blurry hence the one less star, but the actual episode is very beautiful。 And! The music for that umbrella scene is epic and romantic! Ladybug and Cat Noir have for some reason been on my tumblr feed from time to time with moments mostly of the budding romance between the two characters。 I have no idea where or how to watch this tv series so it's been bugging me that I can't enjoy what everyone else is loving about our two heroes。 I was lucky enough to find this comic book and I smiled with triumph。My first impressions with this story have to do with how the art looks。 I'm assuming there wasn't much done with it。 The artwork ar Ladybug and Cat Noir have for some reason been on my tumblr feed from time to time with moments mostly of the budding romance between the two characters。 I have no idea where or how to watch this tv series so it's been bugging me that I can't enjoy what everyone else is loving about our two heroes。 I was lucky enough to find this comic book and I smiled with triumph。My first impressions with this story have to do with how the art looks。 I'm assuming there wasn't much done with it。 The artwork are snaps from the actual show which you can either take or leave depending on your preference。 I eventually got used to it but I don't usually like comics from media tie-ins doing that。 It feels lazy。 It would have been great to get a better flow of the art and story with hand drawn and colored strips。 I'm sure more avid fans though might appreciate seeing the characters how they are in the show。After I got over the artwork I got into the plot where there are these Miraculous little creatures that give their owners powers。 Ladybug has the power of creation while Cat Noir has the power of destruction。 Clearly, there is a balance between the two。 One can't work well without the other。 I thought the powers were pretty cool especially since Ladybug could create anything useful she needed like a parachute for example。 I would have liked a little more origin in how the Miraculous came to be and more emphasis on what each power can do。Ladybug is really Marinette who lives in Paris with her mom and dad (baker)。 She gets bullied by this blond mean girl who wants the seat Marinette is sitting in for Adrien, or Cat Noir, in the classroom。 Adrien is a model whose dad does not want him to go to school。 He has no friends and is hoping to make new ones at school。 The repetition of conversation of him going back and forth about wanting to go to school was a bit much。 They get off to a rough start as their normal selves but Cat Noir is in love with Ladybug like the very first minute which I love。 It is the reason why I wanted to read this comic after all。I know it seems like there are a lot of little things I didn't like about this comic but they are just that little things。 I was invested in the story before I even read it plus the characters and plot remind me of shows I would watch as a kid (let's be honest I'd watch it in a heartbeat now)。 If I haven't even watched the show and I like it I'm sure fans will love it。 I can also see kids loving this series as a show and a comic。Thanks to NetGalley and Action Lab Entertainment for providing me with Miraculous: Origins in exchange for an honest review! 。。。more

An interesting start to this series – I didn't know anything about the franchise before this。 I really liked the way the CGI characters with their puppet-like faces carried over on to the page, but what doesn't do that is the action, most of which is quite poor in stills。 It seems to represent the aesthetic and characters of the original cartoon, which are inherently child-friendly and childish respectively, and while it's not for me I can see people would definitely rate this YA title as a hit。 An interesting start to this series – I didn't know anything about the franchise before this。 I really liked the way the CGI characters with their puppet-like faces carried over on to the page, but what doesn't do that is the action, most of which is quite poor in stills。 It seems to represent the aesthetic and characters of the original cartoon, which are inherently child-friendly and childish respectively, and while it's not for me I can see people would definitely rate this YA title as a hit。 。。。more

Kids who love the show will enjoy this comic book。 The comic introduces the entire cast of characters from the show and the backstory to how Marinette and Adrien received their powers。 It was interesting to see how they reacted differently to their new alter egos。 Just like the show, the comic is colorful and the drawings are just like what you would see on the screen。 I think that is because the comic is composed of still shots from the show。 This is evident in the action scenes because sometim Kids who love the show will enjoy this comic book。 The comic introduces the entire cast of characters from the show and the backstory to how Marinette and Adrien received their powers。 It was interesting to see how they reacted differently to their new alter egos。 Just like the show, the comic is colorful and the drawings are just like what you would see on the screen。 I think that is because the comic is composed of still shots from the show。 This is evident in the action scenes because sometimes they are blurry or it is unclear what is going on。 However, if your kids enjoy the show, they’d probably enjoy reading about this origin story that has humor, action, life lessons, and the stirrings of young romance。* I received this book free of charge from NetGalley。 。。。more

'Miraculous: Origins' by Cheryl Black and Nicole D'Andria is based on an animated series that I knew nothing about。 The comic book looks like it is comprised of still shots from that show。Marinette is a put upon girl attending school。 She is pushed around by the popular girls who tell her to move her seat so they can sit next to the handsome boy coming to school。 Adrien is that boy。 He's actually not allowed to attend regular school since his family is so famous and wealthy。 When a series of mys 'Miraculous: Origins' by Cheryl Black and Nicole D'Andria is based on an animated series that I knew nothing about。 The comic book looks like it is comprised of still shots from that show。Marinette is a put upon girl attending school。 She is pushed around by the popular girls who tell her to move her seat so they can sit next to the handsome boy coming to school。 Adrien is that boy。 He's actually not allowed to attend regular school since his family is so famous and wealthy。 When a series of mysterious gems is released, Marinette and Adrien get two of them。 The gems give them unusual powers and costumes and turn them in to superheroes。 Which is good because a bad guy named Hawk Moth (?) has gems of his own and he's using a schoolmate of Marinette and Adrien, named Ivan, as his pawn。 Marinette has her doubts about why she was picked, but Adrien needs her powers to defeat Ivan while he is in his Stoneheart state。The plot is fine for young readers, who I presume are familiar with the show it's based on。 There are good values on display throughout the book of being courageous and understanding why someone might be acting the way they do。 They really don't want to hurt Ivan, but they do want to stop him from hurting others。 The art is another story。 The CGI art seems to lack sharp definition at times。 Things appear a bit fuzzy and out of focus。 In a few action panels, the art is blurry。 For young readers, it will look exactly like what they are used to, but I prefer a different style in my graphic novels。I received a review copy of this graphic novel from ZAG Entertainment, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel。 。。。more

I have only watched a few episodes of "Miraculous", but so far I've really liked the show, so of course I wanted to read the origin story of how Marinette and Adrien got their powers。 This story was well done - the art looks very similar to the way the episodes are animated and it gives us background information about the two heroes。 I especially liked how different their reactions to discovering their new powers were :D And there was a lot of humour, but also some sweet moments, which I liked。 I have only watched a few episodes of "Miraculous", but so far I've really liked the show, so of course I wanted to read the origin story of how Marinette and Adrien got their powers。 This story was well done - the art looks very similar to the way the episodes are animated and it gives us background information about the two heroes。 I especially liked how different their reactions to discovering their new powers were :D And there was a lot of humour, but also some sweet moments, which I liked。 Of course I also enjoyed the main plot which was Adrien and Marinette coming to terms with their new powers and the responsibility they now have。 Their opponent was definitely worthy and I liked that they needed to work together and didn't get it right on the first try because that was realistic。 But even though I definitely enjoyed the story, the art and the characters, something was missing。。。 while it made me want to watch more episodes, the origins story itself couldn't really grab me。 So it gets 'only' 3。5 stars from me。I also want to say that the font is really small (at least in the digital copy I read), but with zooming in, I was able to read the text with no problems。_________I received a copy of this book through Netgalley。 Thank you! 。。。more
